Support for the Club

Contacts

The Internet Club "Integration" serves the interests of visually impaired people and people with other health limitations in Russia. "Integration" was established in Moscow on December 22, 1997. It is a free-will, non-profit, independent association for people with common interests. The objectives of the Club are to promote the special needs and interests of people with disabilities (primarily the blind and visually impaired). Particular emphasis is given to civil rights, employment and rehabilitation, health care, Social Security, and telecommunications as well as information resources and technologies for the visually impaired.

The club "Integration" was established by mutual agreement between the Russian State Library for the Blind and the Russian Association of Blind Students and Specialists. The co-founders provide wide organizational and legal support for all members and the Club as well as represent the Club in any legal activities, if required.

The Club has over 60 members and more than 100 associates in Russia and abroad (mostly blind and visually impaired). Blind users work with computers equipped with special screen access software. Some Club members are professionals who are associated with the development of software. They can provide effective support to those who are seeking help or advice in the area of computer access for people with different visual problems. The Club provides specially adapted training/courses through the use and application of computing and information technologies, discussions, and consulting on possible multilingual solutions for screen reader/synthesizer set-ups. The Club has close links with Russian Internet providers such as Demos, Sins telecom, Comstar and Rosnet. Above companies provide free or discounted access to the internet for the club members. The Russian State Library for the Blind provides wide information support for the club.

If any company wants to provide free or discounted access to the Internet in Moscow or other Russian regions, please, you are welcome to contact the Vice-President of the Club, Andrey Kochetkov, E-mail: aak@rosmail.ru

Finding employment for persons with disabilities

The Club is actively working in the area of professional rehabilitation of visually impaired people in Russia. We organize meetings with professionals and representatives of different organizations from the private and public sectors. The Club provides consultants to various organizations considering issues that may be involved in the employment of blind people. Our specialists actively work with producers of hardware and software for the blind in Russia and abroad.

Support for the Club

The Club is doing everything possible to support its members and to help all people with visual problems in Russia. However, Club resources are limited and we would welcome any support from people who can help. Many blind people in Moscow and other areas in Russia don't have computers and have little or no chance to earn money for a computer. Their income is about $30 per month. We try our best to provide free or discount access to the Internet, but the number of people with Internet access is really limited so far. If you can help or want to suggest possible sources of support for the Club, you are invited and welcome to contact Vice-President Andrey Kochetkov via e-mail: aak@rosmail.ru
